Blogathon! « Thread Started on Jul 27, 2007, 10:25am »
Okay, so some of you may have seen the little mini-banner-blinky-thing in my sig. Most probably haven't, but whatever. It's for Blogathon - which starts tomorrow, and lasts 24 hours. Basically I'm staying up 24 hours straight (and probably longer, prior commitments and suchlike), blogging every half-hour, for charity.
I'm doing this for Book Aid, which is a group that helps get books to people who need them in Africa. I picked this in part because I didn't have an online-donate link for the local charity I wanted to sponsor, honestly, but also very much because reading and literacy and writing and the like is really important to me. I'm sort of a writer (RP, mostly, but sometimes other things), and so without that form of creative outlet, I get really antsy and generally blah-like.
And imagine all the things we couldn't do if we couldn't read! You wouldn't even be online right now, wouldn't be reading this, if you couldn't read, obviously. Just the little things we take for granted, y'know? Life would be a lot harder, and is, for some people. So, yeah, I thought this was a really good thing to help with.
So, if you can, I'd really appreciate any-and-all sponsorship! You're making pledges, not sending in the money right away, and any donations go straight to the charity's site itself - not to Blogathon, or to me, or anyone else. Even $5 is something, as yet I don't think I have any donations... at all. Which is sad, but I'll be blogging even if I get none at all, so it'd be really amazing if I was doing it for a reason.
Anyone who sponsors anything at all will get a pixelaffied something-or-other that's made during the 'thon, just for my sponsors. Not really sure what, yet, depends on what the muse allows, but...yes, I'm sure I'll be pixeling.

[Hopefully this sort of post is okay? I don't recall there being a rule against actual money-related things being posted, apologies if I'm wrong. >.>;;;;]
